Price Update: Rodriguez Brothers Strawberries

Starting this week, strawberries from Rodriguez Brothers Farm will see a $1 price increase—and we want to share the reason.

We've been working with grower Roberto Rodriguez to introduce compostable packaging for the first time. This aligns with our shared values, and Roberto is fully on board—but the shift brings added cost and complexity to his operation.

Two key factors:

• The compostable clamshells are more expensive than standard plastic.

• Packing them requires a different method, so Roberto’s team needs to be retrained.

We initially hoped to absorb the added cost, but the operational adjustments turned out to be more involved than expected.
